Artist Spotlight – Mickey Galyean and Cullen’s Bridge

Mickey Galyean and Cullen's Bridge

It’s that exciting time of year again! Spring is in the air, summer plans are being penciled in, camping reservations are being made, and the most exciting of all – the American Folk Festival starts announcing acts! One of the first musical acts announced to perform this year at the AFF is of one of my favorite genres to see played live. Mickey Gaylean and Cullen’s Bridge play traditional mountain bluegrass. They draw inspiration from Mickey’s father, Cullen, who passed away in 2010 and left Mickey with a rich musical background to draw from. Mickey chose to honor his father’s heritage in performing songs written by his father as well as the band’s originals and bluegrass classics. There’s no getting around the toe tapping/foot stomping rhythm they possess when on stage.

Check out their website to learn more about the band members and hear some of their music. You can also watch a video here.
