Unveiled: A “Sign” The 2014 American Folk Festival is Closer Than You Think

This year has started with a bang. A bang of color– Color Bangor on April 26, a bang of music– announcements for past & new blues, bluegrass, Cajun, Quebecois, Cuban, and West African musicians, and a bang of new ways to be involved- the Family Circle and the Producer’s Circle membership. And the excitement is just beginning.

Today, the American Folk Festival unveils the official sign the festival is coming soon. Here, we present to you the 2014 logo and poster:

Also starting today, you will begin seeing tidbits of information about the 2014 American Folk Festival appearing on the front page of the print edition of the Bangor Daily News.

If you haven’t caught all of the BDN articles, click here to access full list of current official performers. A handful of performers from this list include: Adonis Puentes and the Voice of Cuba Orchestra (Cuban jazz and pop), Bill Kirchen (a mix of country and blues), Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys (French Cajun), Ensemble Shanbehzadeh (Iranian folk band), Khắc Chí (traditional Vietnamese), the West African HighLife Band (rhythmic West African), and Cambalache (an audience-engaged Chicano-Jarocho group). If none of those genres struck just the right note, just wait! Another wave of performers will be announced within the next week!

2014 is shaping up to be brilliant with colors, contagious with dancing, and dramatic with cultural costumes from all over the world. Pack up the car with family, friends, and your dancing shoes, and be ready to be amazed August 22-24.

With the festival being less than two months away, stay tuned for many more artist reveals and much more information about the four stages of dance & music, children’s area, marketplace, exhibits, and food court.
